A photo of a landmark arrives each day. Name the city in six guesses.
Every guess must be a real city with the right number of letters.
Hints (continent, country, landmark) unlock as you use up guesses.
Daily is the same city for everyone and turns over at your own midnight. Unlimited keeps dealing new cities until you run out of guesses.
What the colours mean
Green = right letter, right spot · Yellow = right letter, wrong spot · Gray = not in the name. Turn on Colorblind under the mode buttons to swap green/yellow for orange/blue.
Photos
Photos come from Wikimedia Commons under licences that allow commercial use. The author and licence are shown on the results postcard once the round is over.

Continents and oceans
Earth has seven continents (Africa, Antarctica, Asia, Australia, Europe, North America, South America) and five oceans (Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Southern, Arctic). Most landmark photos in this game sit near a coastline or a major river, so knowing a country's continent narrows down the guess fast.
Country vs. capital vs. city
A country is a nation with borders and a government. Its capital is the city where that government sits - but the capital is not always the biggest or most famous city (Australia's capital is Canberra, not Sydney; Brazil's is Brasilia, not Rio). This game can ask about any city, capital or not.
Reading a landmark for clues
Architecture style is a strong hint: domes and minarets often point to the Middle East, Central or South Asia; ornate cathedrals and old-town squares often point to Europe; glass skyscrapers often point to fast-growing cities in Asia or the Gulf. Vegetation, light and clothing in a photo can suggest a climate zone, which narrows down the latitude.
Time zones and hemispheres
Places north of the equator (the Northern Hemisphere) have summer around June-August; places south of it (the Southern Hemisphere) have summer around December-February. If a landmark photo shows snow in December, that is a clue the city is in the Northern Hemisphere.
Climate zones
Cities near the equator tend to be tropical and green year-round. Cities in the mid-latitudes have four seasons. Cities near the poles or at high altitude are cold and often dry. Desert cities (dry, sparse vegetation) cluster around 20-30 degrees latitude, both north and south.
